White House to Host First Crypto Summit
The White House will convene a first-of-its-kind summit for cryptocurrency professionals on March 7. The announcement, released by the White House Office of Communications, stated that the event would include prominent figures from the crypto industry.
“Attendees will include prominent founders, CEOs, and investors from the crypto industry, as well as members of the President’s Working Group on Digital Assets,” the announcement stated. “The Summit will be chaired by the White House A.I. & Crypto Czar David Sacks, and administered by the Working Group’s Executive Director Bo Hines.”
This event reflects the administration’s focus on digital assets. One of President Trump’s initial executive orders in his second term indicated his administration’s intention to “support the responsible growth and use of digital assets, blockchain technology, and related technologies across all sectors of the economy.”
President Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to establish the U.S. as the world’s “crypto capital.” This ambition follows his family’s entry into digital currency ventures, including Eric Trump’s keynote speech at Bitcoin MENA 2024 in Abu Dhabi. Eric Trump, speaking to the audience at the conference, asserted, “You’re going to have the most pro-crypto president in the history of America.”
During his campaign, the President was the primary speaker at Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville. Furthermore, Vice President Vance is scheduled to speak at a16z’s American Dynamism Summit in Washington next month, further highlighting the Republican party’s growing influence in the cryptocurrency sector.
The White House summit aims to offer a clear regulatory structure for crypto investors while safeguarding economic freedom, according to the Office of Communications.
