Microsoft Releases Windows Recall Feature for Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Recall, an AI-powered feature that captures and allows users to search through their PC’s screen history, is now rolling out to Copilot+ PCs with the installation of Windows 11 KB5055627 update.
Recall enables users to quickly find and revisit content they have previously seen on their PC. The feature uses everyday language processing to locate files, photos, links, or messages based on user descriptions. For instance, if a user was working on a PowerPoint presentation about financial operations but can’t remember the file name, they can describe the content, and Recall will search for it.

Initially announced in May 2024 as a flagship feature for Windows 11 and Snapdragon-powered ‘AI’ PCs, Recall faced criticism from security researchers due to privacy concerns, including the storage of passwords in plain text. Microsoft addressed these issues by making Recall optional, upgrading the model to filter out sensitive information, and testing it with Windows Insiders.
After a nearly year-long delay, Recall is now included in Windows 11 Build 26100 for Snapdragon Copilot+ PCs and will be rolled out to all users with the May 2025 Patch Tuesday Update.
The Recall feature is part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to integrate AI capabilities into Windows 11, enhancing user experience through advanced functionality.
