ZeroNorth Appoints Kare Kjelstrom as Chief Product & Technology Officer
ZeroNorth, a maritime technology company, has appointed Kare Kjelstrom as its new Chief Product & Technology Officer, effective July 1. Kjelstrom, a prominent figure in the Nordic tech scene, brings extensive leadership experience from companies like Uber, Lunar, and Concordium, where he successfully built and scaled digital platforms that redefined industries.

According to a press release, Kjelstrom joins ZeroNorth at a critical time when the shipping industry is increasingly reliant on data and technology to address the challenges of the energy transition. His role will involve leading the company’s product and technology strategy, with a focus on advancing the next wave of innovation, including generative AI and maritime autonomy.
Kjelstrom emphasized that shipping remains one of the world’s most operationally complex and under-digitized industries. “AI has the potential to fundamentally change how decisions are made, not just to boost efficiency, but to simplify workflows, connect fragmented systems, and unlock entirely new opportunities,” he said.
He also highlighted ZeroNorth’s existing products, stating, “My focus will be on unifying our robust end-to-end platform so that we can scale it to the next level. It’s a unique opportunity to drive both business and societal impact – and I am excited to be part of that.”
Soren C. Meyer, CEO of ZeroNorth, described the appointment as a decisive, strategic move. “Following our rapid growth and six acquisitions, unifying our platform is vital for accelerating the next wave of maritime innovation. Kjelstrom’s exceptional track record in scaling technology is exactly what we need to pioneer new frontiers from generative AI to maritime autonomy, and accelerate the energy transition through data and technology,” Meyer explained.
ZeroNorth is a technology leader committed to accelerating the energy transition in global shipping. Founded in 2020, the company has grown significantly from six employees to 600 across 10 global locations. It is at the forefront of leveraging technology and data to drive immediate reductions in emissions, a critical step towards achieving long-term sustainability goals in the maritime industry.
